To Whom It May Concern,
My name is Robb Arndt, and I am currently an Associate Director of Admission, Dorm Head and the Head Varsity Baseball Coach at Millbrook School in Millbrook, NY. I believe that I could be an asset to your school due to my experience in a variety of roles at Millbrook. As an ex-classroom teacher, current administrator, head coach, and dorm head, I have experience in many aspects of school and can utilize the skills I have developed in each area to maximize my contribution to your community as your next Dean of Students.
At Millbrook, I also work as an Advisor and the Winter Strength & Conditioning Coach and taught English for four years before transitioning into the Admission Office in 2016. Prior to coming to Millbrook, I attended Colby College in Waterville, ME. There, I had the pleasure of playing baseball for four years as a 1B/P and the honor of receiving 2nd Team All-NESCAC and team MVP honors in 2012, as well as Most Improved Player after the 2011 season. My time and various roles at Millbrook have shown me that I most enjoy working with students outside of the classroom, be it the dorm, baseball field, or community, to find their best selves. .

At Millbrook, my transition from the classroom to the administration, while maintaining a presence in the dorm and as a coach, has given me a unique perspective on school life. I am now better able to understand and appreciate the variety of daily demands that our students face and have gained insight into nearly every aspect of running a school. As the Dorm Head of Harris Hall (ninth-grade boys dormitory) and the Head Baseball Coach, I have instilled two separate mottos to give the members of the dorm and baseball team a consistent focus. For the dorm, this is “Do Right” and for the baseball team, it is “Always Getting Better”. Each is important for its simplicity and ability to provide a guiding influence for each respective group. Whether the baseball team is in the gym during February, practicing during April, or the dorm is at their desks during Study Hall or simply moving around the community, I want our players and members of the dorm to assess themselves and recognize areas in which they can improve and better our overall community.

My work with the students and players as a Dorm Head and Head Coach has showed me the power of leadership and opportunities that are present outside of the traditional classroom. This has motivated me to explore further positions that offer similar opportunities, and I believe that your Dean of Students position is such an opportunity. In addition to the two positions I cite above, I also serve as a member of our Enrollment Management Team and work within the Admission Office to identify those students who may need additional support while at Millbrook.
I would welcome an opportunity to tell you more about myself, my experience as an administrator, teacher, coach, and dorm head, as well as learn more about your school. Please let me know when this would be possible.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
Robb Arndt
